A Di Tsale Programme

Programme Overview

The A Di Tsale programme is a CEDA initiative aimed at increasing the national herd size and improving the quality of livestock in Botswana. It provides financial support for cattle production, including breeding stock, infrastructure, and operational costs.

Operational Guidelines

  • An applicant is entitled to one (1) package for the entire duration of A Di Tsale programme.
  • Beneficiary can only qualify for an enhancer related to the package approved for.
  • An applicant who has benefitted as a member of a group, Director of a Company, cluster, Cooperatives or Service Providers/Outgrower Scheme will not be considered for any other package within this programme except for rangeland management package.
  • Applicants shall not source stock (i.e. animals, equipment etc.) from their parents and siblings and cannot buy from their own companies or companies to which they are shareholders or Directors.
  • Training of beneficiaries on livestock production and management per sub sector prior to implementation is a requirement.

Application Requirements

  • Applicants shall be a Motswana of 18 years and above.
  • Applicants should have a valid Omang card.
  • Businesses, Companies and Service Provider/Outgrower Schemes shall be citizen owned only, and duly registered with relevant bodies.
  • People with disability should provide disability card.
  • For Special groups (Remote Area Dwellers-RADS/Trusts), the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and/or Bogosi will confirm their origins.
  • Applicants should be registered in Botswana Animal Identification and Traceability System (BAITS).
  • Livestock holding must be registered.
  • Suppliers of livestock and inputs should be registered in BAITS.
  • All applicants should have prescribed toilets in their farms/projects is a mandatory requirement including at micro level.
  • Records keeping is compulsory for all packages.
  • Where applicable applicants shall buy locally produced goods and services: “Buy Botswana, Built in Botswana”.
  • Leased livestock land period should be at least 10 years for the purpose of the programme.
  • Where applicable Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) must be done.
  • No subsidy will be provided for working capital, personal vehicle, purchase of farm land, leasing or rental.
  • Where applicable insurance will be a requirement.
